Govt Suspends Medical Officer, Takes Action Against Another Doctor

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government took decisive action on Thursday, suspending a Medical Officer and initiating disciplinary measures against another for neglecting their duties.

The Health and Medical Education Department, in a stern move on Wednesday, attached Dr. Zahoor Ahmad, Medical Officer (RBKS) at the National Health Mission (NHM), JK, to the office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar, pending an inquiry into his conduct. Dr. Zahoor Ahmad was promptly placed under suspension with immediate effect.

According to an official order by Secretary Health and Medical Education Department, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, the Mission Director, NHM, JK, is directed to initiate the termination process of Dr. Zahoor Ahmad’s services due to dereliction of duties.

Simultaneously, another order from the Secretary’s desk announced the suspension of Dr. Nadeem Ahmad Tantray, Medical Officer at PHC Afti, for neglecting his duties. The order specified that during the suspension period, Dr. Nadeem Ahmad Tantray would be attached to the office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar.

In response to this action, the Director of Health, Jammu, has been instructed to promptly deploy two doctors on an internal arrangement basis. This measure aims to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the institution (PHC Afti) without any hindrance due to the absence of medical personnel, as highlighted in the official order.
