GANDERBAL, AUGUST 07: As part of the 78th Independence Day celebrations, the Debates Committee of Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal today organised National Anthem Singing Competition and Quiz competition in the conference hall of the college.
The program started with a welcome note by convenor debates committee, Dr Wasia who briefed about the importance of the Independence Day and highlighted the struggle Indian freedom fighters have put in to make India an independent nation. A good number of students participated in the National Anthem singing competition enthusiastically.
The students sang the National Anthem on the beats of music, thereby, celebrating the national, regional and cultural ethos of India and cherishing the Independence Day. The competition was judged by Prof. Nusrat Nabi and Dr Nusrat Jan, faculty of the college.
As a mark of appreciation, Principal of the college Prof Fouzia Fatima distributed certificates among the participants and winners of the program and also encouraged them to participate in such events to showcase their talents. She also highlighted the importance of this Independence Day in the history of the Indian nation.
A quiz competition centered around the theme of Indian freedom struggle was conducted among various student groups and each group comprised two participants/students. Prof Ulfat, head dept of psychology conducted the whole proceedings of the quiz. She posed questions to students which they very enthusiastically answered. The record of the correct answers was maintained by Dr Shazia from the deptt of English and at the end the score was calculated and the winners were declared.
Principal of the college Prof Fouzia Fatima encouraged the students for their participation and appreciated their efforts during the whole event.
Later, certificates of appreciation were distributed among the winners.
