First randomization of EVMs conducted at Budgam

BUDGAM, AUGUST 23: The first Randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) for the Assembly Elections 2024 was successfully conducted here today under the supervision of District Election Officer (DEO) Budgam, Akshay Labroo.

The process was carried out in strict adherence to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI), ensuring transparency and fairness in the election process.

At the event ROs of all ACs of the Budgam and the representatives of the national and state recognized political parties were also present. The randomization was done on the EMS Software/Portal of ECI. The copies of lists of randomized CUs/BUs and VVPATs were handed over to the representatives of the political parties present in the meeting during the randomization ensuring that every political party has complete insight into the process. Entire process was videographed in accordance with ECI guidelines.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election – to be held for the first time since 2014, with the former state under President’s Rule since 2018 – will be held in three phases, on September 18, September 25, and October 1, with results to be announced on October 4. Jammu and Kashmir has 87.09 lakh voters, including 42.6 lakh women, across 90 constituencies, according to the Election Commission.

According to the timeline shared by the poll body, a gazette notification will be issued on September 9. The last date for making nominations for Phase I is August 27, while the last date for withdrawing candidatures is August 30. Polling for Phase I will be held on September 18.

The last date for making nominations for Phase II is September 5, while the last date for withdrawing candidatures is September 9. Polling for Phase I will be held on September 25. The last date for making nominations for Phase II is September 12, while the last date for withdrawing candidatures is September 17.
