Srinagar, Oct 30: A tailor’s daughter made Kashmir proud when she scored second rank in the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) exams today.
Hailing from Zakura, Srinagar, Iqra Farooq Bhat achieved the feat without any formal coaching.
“I always believed that hard work pays off. It was a pleasant surprise that I scored second rank. I double-checked my results to be reassured that I have bagged second rank,” beaming Iqra said.
A science student, she began preparing for JKAS in 2021. Four years on, she cracked the exam.
“I would like to tell aspirants, do not be upset. Try hard and In Sha Allah, success will be yours. Don’t fear setbacks, prepare for your goal with zeal and zest,” she said.
Iqra’s father thanked Almighty Allah for her daughter’s success. “Sometimes it was hard given my limited resources. Bus she made us all proud,” he said.
All roads lead to Iqra’s home with people making a beeline to congratulate the daughter of the soil. Locals expressed happiness over her success and prayed for a better future.
It is to be noted that seventy-one candidates qualified for the test for which the results were declared today.
According to the selection notification, in April 2023, the General Administration Department referred 75 posts for the J&K Combined Competitive Examination-2023 to the J&K Public Service Commission. The posts were advertised by JKPSC on April 13, 2024, and 30,756 candidates were provisionally allowed to appear for the Preliminary Examination.
Sanjeev Kumar secured the first position by scoring 1089 points, while Iqra Farooq secured second with 1078 marks. Vasudha Sharma ranked 3rd with 1075 marks.
