SRINAGAR, JULY 11: Secretary PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control, Farooq Ahmad Shah, today convened a meeting to review the pace of various ongoing projects being executed under the respective departments.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir, Chief Engineer I&FC Kashmir, SEs of Kashmir region and other concerned. Chief Engineers of PHE and I&FC sectors of Jammu region along with district SEs participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
During the meeting, Secretary emphasized that all the development projects should be completed in a time-bound manner so that benefits of the same are accrued to the public at an earliest.
The Chief Engineers of PHE sector were directed to ensure adequate availability of drinking water to the general public during this summer season and wherever piped water supply is interrupted.
The PHE authorities were asked to prepare proposals for rejuvenation of all defunct filtration plants/ schemes to ensure their optimum functionality.
The Chief Engineer I&FC Kashmir was directed to expedite dredging of river Jhelum and its flood channels. Secretary also emphasized that contract formalities of procurement of two new dredgers and construction of Hokarsar channel be finalized at the earliest.
Shah also asked the HoDs to formulate new schemes under all sectors on the basis of requirement. They were asked to issue instructions to all field officers and officials to regularly visit areas of their jurisdiction and Executive Engineers were asked to hold regular public darbars in their areas to redress the public grievances.
