Farmer killed days after he sold tomatoes for Rs. 30 lakh

Tragedy struck in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district as Narem Rajasekhar Reddy, a hardworking tomato farmer, was reportedly murdered in a gruesome incident aimed at robbing him of the proceeds from his recent tomato crop sale. The shocking incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting the vulnerability faced by farmers who work tirelessly to make a living.

Narem Rajasekhar Reddy, known for his dedication to farming, had recently sold his tomato crop and was expected to receive the income from his hard work. As per national media reports, the 62-year-old was found murdered on Wednesday in Bodimalladinne village of Madanapalle mandal.

According to the family, Reddy had recently earned Rs 30 lakh by selling tomatoes in an agriculture market. Police suspect that the murder could be linked to this and are looking into if the farmer was carrying any money.

The news of Reddy’s untimely death has deeply saddened the farming community in the region. Farmers, already burdened by numerous challenges, are now confronted with the harsh reality that their hard-earned livelihoods can make them targets of criminal activities.
