Dr. Ashiq receives WHO certification in Applied Epidemiology

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 27: Dr. Ashiq Rashid Mir, SMO WHO for Kashmir division and Ladakh UT has graduated in the Applied Epidemiology Programme by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

He earned this prestigious certification after successfully completing the Core Activities of Learning in the Applied Epidemiology Programme (2023-2024) Cohort-3. This program was conducted by the WHO Country Office for India in collaboration with the CDC.

The Applied Epidemiology Programme (AEP) is a rigorous, skill-based, on-the-job field epidemiology training initiative. It is implemented in partnership with the WHO and the U.S CDC.

The program is designed to build workforce capacity to detect, investigate, and respond to disease outbreaks and public health emergencies. It also aims to enhance data collection and analysis, enabling evidence-based decision-making at national and subnational levels, and to improve public health communication with policymakers and communities.
