SRINAGAR, APRIL 01: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Saleem u Rehman today said that it’s a collective responsibility of society to ensure upkeep of high level of cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene within and outside the premises of hospitals.
Director Health made these remarks at an event ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ (Cleanliness fortnight) organised to promote cleanliness in valley-based health care facilities at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Hospital in Rainwari.
The event was organised by National Health Mission (NHM), J&K in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) and Chief Medical Officer Srinagar.
Dr Rehman, who was Chief Guest on the occasion along with Guest of Honour Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Riyaz wani said that the cleanliness mission should not remain confined to these 15 days only. “We should make it a habit to maintain cleanliness of our surroundings all the time,” he said.
The Commissioner SMC, Riyaz Wani said that the Corporation is working on source segregation of waste and its scientific disposal. He said that need of the hour is to ensure cleanliness of surroundings so that various diseases are kept at a bay.
Meanwhile, the Cleanliness Fortnight which commenced on April 1 in Kashmir based hospitals will culminate on 15th of April 2018.
On the occasion plantation drive and cleanliness drive were also initiated by Director Health Services Kashmir and Commissioner SMC Riyaz Wani.
Pertinently the Swachhata Pakhwada was attended by various dignitaries from Medical Department and ASHA workers.
