Jammu, Feb 8: The Central Government representative Dineshwar Sharma on Thursday held talks with more than 15 delegations of civil society and politicians in Jammu.
The Special Representative for Jammu & Kashmir, Dineshwar Sharma, who is on a four-day visit to Jammu province, called on Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti
During the meeting, Sharma informed the Chief Minister about his visit to the winter capital. During the meeting both discussed the emerging geopolitical developments in the region since the latter’s last visit to the State.
Sharma arrived in Jammu on Tuesday and met Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhawan. He briefed the Governor about his visits to the state and the viewpoints put forth before him by different sections of the society in view of prevailing situation in the state with suggestions.
After his previous visits, the interlocutor had suggested for the release of first time stone-pelters following which Mehbooba Mufti headed Government initiated the process.
Sources said that the delegations of MLAs, MLCs, All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee, J&K Gujjar United Front, Border residents of R S Pura and Marheen, Jammu Heritage Society, All J&K Scheduled Caste Welfare Society, International Human Rights Organisation, J&K, Drama Artists Association, Jammu, Jammu West Assembly Movement, All J&K Contractual Lecturers Forum, Railway Doctors Association Jammu, All J&K Home Guards Welfare Association, Kargil War Porters Welfare Association, Udhampur, National Mazdoor Conference, Shrimoni Akali Dal (Amritsar) and Jammu Muslim Front (J&K) besides two individuals met Sharma.
Sharma was appointed by the Centre to hold talks with different sections of the society on Kashmir issue.
Earlier in 2009 during UPA government regime, three interlocutors Dilip Padgaonkar, Radha Kumar and M M Ansari were appointed to meet people.
They also submitted report to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Kashmir situation with suggestions.
