Srinagar: Majority of the departments have failed to submit to the governor the details of the consultants and advisors appointed by the previous coalition.
Governor, N N Vohra, after taking over as the state’s head on June 4, asked the administrative secretaries of all the government departments to report on the utility of the consultants and contractual appointees for their continuation or disengagement.
As per sources, majority of the department have not yet submitted the details.
“Only a few have so far submitted the details. Many are yet to begin collecting the details,” a source said.
Sources said the governor would check utility of the appointed consultants or advisors.
“The details will reach the governor through secretariat,” the source said.
On Thursday, a government circular suggested that the termination or reengagement of the consultants is to be decided upon before July 9.
“While certain departments submitted the details, others have not responded so far,” the circular reads.
“Based on the decision taken, it is directed to request the administrative secretaries to review the engagements of advisors and consultants in their departments based on their merit and performance and submit all these cases to the concerned Advisor…”
As per the circular, the matter of these consultants approved or rejected by the authorities will be discussed by the state administrative council on July 11.
As per official sources, scores of these advisors and consultants had resigned soon after the fall of the government in the state.
“Only a few are there, as majority believed that the governor’s axe will fall on them. Presently, there are many contractual appointees in various department,” the source said.
