Super Specialty Hospital, GMC Srinagar, hosts one-day workshop on suturing, knotting, and stapling devices

The Department of Urology at the Super Specialty Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, successfully conducted a one-day workshop on suturing skills, knotting, and stapling devices on May 18, 2024. This event aimed to enhance the practical skills of medical professionals in these critical surgical techniques.
The workshop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Principal/Dean of GMC Srinagar, Prof. (Dr) Iffat Hassan Shah. Prof. Chintamani from Ganga Ram Hospital, was the distinguished invited faculty who shared his extensive knowledge and expertise with the attendees on the above topic.

Participants included faculty members, residents, and students, who benefited from hands-on training and insightful lectures. Esteemed faculty members attending the event included the Heads of the Departments (HODs) of Anesthesia Prof. (Dr) Hina Bashir, General & Minimally Access Surgery Prof. (Dr) Iqbal Saleem Mir, Pediatric Surgery Prof. (Dr) Abdul Rashid Kumar and many others, underscoring the interdisciplinary support and the importance of such training sessions in medical education.
The Continuing Medical Education (CME) session covered the basics of knotting, suturing, and the use of stapling devices. Participants engaged in practical demonstrations and interactive discussions, enhancing their understanding and proficiency in these essential surgical skills.
Prof. (Dr) Syed Sajjad Nazir, HOD of Urology, highlighted the significant impact of these workshops on both doctors and patient care. He stated, “These workshops will benefit both doctors and patient care, helping us deliver quality care to our patients. We plan to organize more of these workshops in the future.”
Prof. (Dr) Iffat Hassan Shah emphasized the importance of continuous skill development in the ever-evolving field of medicine. She expressed her gratitude to Prof. Chintamani for his valuable contribution and highlighted the collaborative effort of all departments in making the workshop a success.
The workshop concluded with a note of appreciation by Dr. Tanveer iqbal who thank all the participants and organizers for organizing the workshop, and reaffirming GMC Srinagar’s commitment to providing top-tier medical education and training opportunities.
