Delhi demonising Kashmir at every level: Guv

Srinagar, Dec 21: Governor Satya Pal Malik on Friday said that the Jammu and Kashmir was being “demonised” at the national level and that “negativity and biased approach” for the state were a major problem.

Malik was speaking at a function organized by State Health Society, National Health Mission, J&K for felicitation of people involved in Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign.

“A death in Kashmir becomes national headline but I come from a village where local mortuary sends five to ten dead bodies daily and it doesn’t even find any mention in the city’s newspapers. It’s very unfortunate that Kashmir is being demonised in Delhi,” the governor said.

Delineating what his administration had achieved in the last 40 days, the governor said that they had recruited more than 1000 doctors, “successfully” held nine phased panchayat elections and four phased municipal elections without any causality.

“The vote parentage was almost similar to elections held in Punjab but this positivity rarely appears in news,” he said.

He said that Kashmir was being deliberately demonised and that no one talks about positive things happening in the state.

Terming that youth of state as key holder for solution of Kashmir issue, the governor said: “Young generation of state is very positive, talented and performing well in every field. Kashmir’s football team secured second spot in recently concluded tournament and when Kashmir’s team played with Mohun Bagan club in Srinagar, thousands of boys witnessed the match and cheered for both the teams,” he said.
