Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded a huge spike in COVID19 related deaths on Tuesday as the virus claimed 19 more lives in the Union Territory.
The death toll has mounted to 654 in J&K crossing the 600 mark in Kashmir alone.
News agency KNO reported that the 19 patients who since Monday night included a 52-year-old man from Soura, a 46-year-old male from Sumbal Bandipora, a 45-year-old CRPF man from 162 BN Humhama, a 68-year-old woman from Shalimar, a 40-year-old woman from Kachan Ganderbal, a 66-year-old woman from Monghall Anantnag, a 95-year-old man from Maisuma Srinagar, a 62-year-old male from Rawalpora Srinagar, a 50-year-old woman from Maisuma Srinagar, a 55-year-old man from Shallagam Tangmarg, a 60-year-old man from Khan Sahib Budgam, a 55-year-old woman from Rathsun Beerwah Budgam, a 70-year-old man from Kupwara, an 86-year-old man from Saffapora Ganderbal, an 80-year-old woman from Achgoza Pulwama, an 80-year-old woman from Shahabad Tral, a 53-year-old patient from Bakshi Nagar Jammu, a 63-year-old man from Jammu and a 43-year-old patient from Billawar area of Kathua.
An official from SKIMS Soura said that a 45-year-old CRPF man from 162 battalion CRPF Humhama, who was admitted on 19 August, died on Tuesday
He added that a patients from Soura (admitted on 15 August), Sumbal Bandipora (admitted on 20 August), Kachan Ganderbal (admitted on 22 August) and Monghall Anantnag (admitted on 20 August) died at the hospital on Tuesday.
An official from CD hospital Srinagar said that a patients from Kawdara Srinagar (admitted on 21 August) and from Rawalpora Srinagar (admitted on 22 August) died on Tuesday.
An official from SMHS said that a patient from Srinagar who was admitted on 17 August, a patient from Shalimar who was admitted on August 22, a patient from Shallagam Tangmarg who was admitted in 19 August, a patient from Khan Sahib Budgam who was admitted few days before, a patient from Rathsuna who was admitted on 23 August and a patient from Kupwara who was admitted on 10 August died on Tuesday.
An official from SKIMS Bemina Srinagar said that a patient from Dalgate Srinagar who was admitted on 22 August died on Tuesday.
An official from district hospital Pulwama said that a patient from Achgoza Pulwama and a patient from Shahabad Tral who was admitted on 24 August died on Tuesday.
An official from GMC Jammu said that two patients from Bakshi Nagar area of Jammu district died at GMC Jammu in the last 24 hours.
An official from GMC Kathua told KNO that a patient from Billawar Tehsil of Kuthua who was suffering from multiple ailments and was undergoing treatment at GMC Kathua died on Tuesday
With 19 more deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 655 including 605 from Kashmir division and 50 from Jammu division. (KNO)
