Srinagar: Days after Pulwama was declared COVID-19 free, the south Kashmir district on Tuesday reported a fresh novel coronavirus case.
Block Medical Officer Rajpora Dr Javid said an 18-year-old youth with history of travel to New Delhi tested positive for the virus. He had been moved quarantine on April 14 soon after his arrival, the BMO said.
The BMO was leading a team to visit the residence of the youth at Rahmoo Pulwama to isolate his family members and those in the neighbourhood he might have come in contact with after his arrival.
Earlier, Pulwama district had three cases and all of them recovered and were discharged. With them, the district was declared COVID-19 free. However, senior officials said that there was no need to worry as the individual had been already moved to quarantine and the likelihood of him coming in contact with others was very minimal. (GNS)
