Cop killed, several others injured as militants attack police vehicle in Zewan

A cop was killed and at least four other personnel of Jammu and Kashmir police were injured when suspected militants attacked the bus they were travelling in late Friday evening.
Police sources said that a bus of J&K Armed police (JKAP) came under militant attack near Zewan in southern tip of Srinagar district at around 8 PM.
“At least 4 cops were injured,” sources said, and added “two of them are critical.”
“Volley of bullets was showered on the (police) bus,” sources informed.
J&K police spokesperson said that he was collecting details about the attack when this report was filed.
Reports said that an armed police vehicle was on way to Zewan. It was carrying the cops who were on duty for the day on the track around Pathachowk. It was carrying a total of eight cops.
As it reached near Gamander, it was attacked by militants. Four cops were injured in the attack. All the injured cops were from JKAP battalion nine.
Bus driver Meraj ud Din, as per reports, was injured but has responded back to the treatment in the hospital. The slain cop, as per unconfirmed reports, was identified as Krishan Lal, a head constable. All the injured were rushed to the 92 Base Hopsital that is not far away from the spot of the attack.
