Constitution Day celebrated across Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 26: Samvidhan Divas, also known as to Constitution Day, was celebrated across all the district headquarters in Kashmir division.

 This day is celebrated every year on November 26 in the country to remember the father of Constitution, Dr. B.R Ambedkar.

It may be recalled that on November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India formally adopted the Constitution of India. It came into force on January 26, 1950.

In Ganderbal, a grand event was organised at conference Hall, Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal to commemorate the day of adoption of the constitution of India, the 70th anniversary of the Constitution day.

During the ceremony, the preamble was read out by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba and Pledge on fundamental duties was taken by the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan and all district officers present there.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner urged all the officers to take necessary steps for the national campaign, focusing on creating awareness regarding the fundamental duties for which calendar of awareness activities is already framed by the district administration.

In Kulgam, the day was celebrated across the district. The main function was held at mini-secretariat, Kulgam which was attended by all officers.

On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam Showkat Aijaz Bhat read out the preamble and all the participants took the pledge to uphold the fundamental duties.

In Budgam, the District Development Commissioner Tariq Hussain Ganaie chaired a meeting of all district/sectoral officers to celebrate the constitution day at New Conference Hall, Budgam.

During the meeting the DDC read out preamble and charter of the fundamental duties and took pledge along with other officers to abide by the constitution. Among others the, meeting was attuned by ADC Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, CPO, ACD, Executive Engineers of various departments, SDMs and other district/sectoral officers.

In Kupwara, a function was organised to commemorate the Constitution Day at Conference Hall in which all district and sectoral officers participated.

The function was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg, while as, Additional District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ADC Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone, ADC Handwara, Nazir Ahmad Mir, and other senior officers were present.

On the occasion, the Preamble of the Constitution and Fundamental Duties under Section 51A were read out and pledge was taken to abide by the rules of the constitution.

While addressing the function, the Deputy Commissioner, said that a vigorous campaign is being launched across the district to raise awareness among people—regarding their constitutional rights and duties.

Meanwhile Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad Lone also spoke on the occasion.

In Pulwama, a function was held at DC Office Complex in which DC Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer was the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, DC said that 26th November has its significance in the history of our country when constitution of India was adopted in 1949 and came into force on 26th January 1950. He said our endeavour should be to sensitise the people and our children regarding the provisions, values and percepts of constitution as a tribute to framers of the constitution.

On the occasion, preamble of the constitution was read and pledge to the fundamental duties was administered by DDC to District officers and officials.

Meanwhile, District Legal Service Authority Pulwama organised a function at District Court Complex Pulwama to observe the constitution day here today.

Principal District & Sessions Judge Mohammad Ibrahim Wani was the chief guest on the occasion.

While addressing to the gathering, PD&SJ highlighted the significance of observance of constitution day and to acquaint the people regarding its prominent values. He said it is our responsibility to educate the people about values and percepts of constitution.

On the occasion, preamble of the constitution was read by Khurshid- ul- Islam Secretary DLSA and pledge to the fundamental duties was also administered.

The function was attended by Additional District and Sessions Judge, Chairman TLSA, members of Bar Association, Lawyers, staff members, PLVs and other people.
