Casual labourers demand modification in SRO-520

Srinagar, Jan 8: Casual labourers working in different government departments on Monday demanded modification in SRO-520.
The employees working in Agriculture, Sericulture, Tourism Development Authorities, Social Forestry and other departments held a protest demonstration in Press Colony Srinagar demanding modification in SRO-520.
They also thanked the government for the implementation of SRO-520.
The casual labourers demanded implementation of accidental insurance policy. “Although government has already announced the policy, but in these departments this policy has not being implemented,” they said.
“We want a salary of 35,000 for those who have rendered 15 to 20 years of service instead of 10,000,” said Mohammed Yousuf Wani, President, Base Daily Wagers United Forum (BDWUF).
“While the mainstream employees enjoy a DA of 6 -10 per cent, the casual labours were given only 3 per cent, Yousuf said.
Employees also demanded the inclusion of House Rent Allowance (HRA), in the SRO- 520.
