SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 17: The Postgraduate Department of Biochemistry at S.P. College, Srinagar, organized a career counselling workshop titled ‘Career Options for Life Science Students in the USA.’
The event featured Dr. Sameer Ahmad Guru, a Postdoctoral Research scientist at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), USA, as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Sameer delivered an insightful presentation on various national and international fellowships available to students, explaining the application process and the preparations required to successfully secure these fellowships. He stressed the importance of focused study, encouraging students to dedicate more time to reading relevant literature and books while limiting time spent on social media, which he noted is negatively impacting the quality of education.
Furthermore, Dr. Sameer urged students to apply for short-term summer training programs at research institutions. He emphasized that these opportunities would be invaluable in helping students select the right research field for their future careers. The workshop concluded with a lively Q&A session, during which students interacted with Dr. Sameer to clarify their queries and concerns.
