Srinagar, Aug 17: Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Kashmir cadre held Fateh Khawani for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at multiple places, which attracted ridicule by the netizens throughout social media networking sites.
The former PM, who was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for over nine weeks, passed away on Thursday after remaining in a critical condition.
Soon after the news of his death came in media, the state’s particularly Kashmir’s BJP cadre gathered at different district party offices to pray for the former Prime Minister.
Previously, the party has held many gathering to seek recovery of the former prime minister who had slipped into critical condition.
Few of the fresh videos have gone viral on social media, in which the mourners including young and elderly workers are reciting Islamic verses along with supplications.
In one clip, which is apparently shot at party’s Bandipora office, the members including youth and elderly workers pray in front of a portrait of the former Prime Minister.
A youth dressed in yellow kurta is seen reciting supplications, who is followed by fellow workers including a girl.
The video is being shared on Facebook and Whastapp by the netizens, who mock at the workers.
“How deeply these workers seem to have been disturbed by the Atal Bihari’ Vajpayee’s death. Wonder whether they know for whom these religious verses are to be recited,” writes Imran Wani a netizen on Facebook.
Another Facebook user Aquib Junaid writes, “But if a non-Muslim dies while in the state of disbelief, Allah has specifically prohibited the believers to supplicate Allah Subhanah for them; for Allah Subhanah has decreed that He will never ever forgive one who dies in a state of shirk or disbelief.”
Similar reaction has poured in for the religious gathering held by the Muslim workers prior to the death of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Earlier, the party leaders held a prayer meet at Srinagar office in which the leaders expressed their views about the former Prime Minister.
In that clip, one bearded worker is followed by the BJP leaders including Altaf Thakur reciting loudly Islamic verses for “health recovery of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.”
Ebni Islam a Facebook user wrote, “Another viral video, BJP workers praying for Atal Bihari Vajpayee .A man feels numb over such things.”
“Kindly don’t get angry over them. They are just working hard to get a job in their own way,” posted another netizen Mushtaq Ahmad.
In another photo, BJP’s president for district Kupwara Abdul Rashid Zargar along with his team is seen praying for the former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Soon after BJP came to power in the state, the valley’s BJP cadre has been participating in its programmes irrespective of the cultural and religious obligations.
While many participated in yoga programmes, few have taken part in known “chai pecharcha” initiative.
