A fire incident on the Vande Bharat Express train from Bhopal to Delhi caused momentary panic among passengers as the C-14 coach caught fire. Fortunately, the blaze was limited to the battery box, which is located in the undergear, away from the passenger area. The incident occurred on Monday morning after the train departed from Ranikamalapati station, and the fire was promptly detected at Kurvai station.
As soon as the railway staff noticed the fire, they alerted the loco pilot, leading to an immediate halt of the train at the station. Quick action by the fire brigade officials helped to extinguish the fire, and the defective batteries were removed. The railway authorities confirmed that the train’s electrical safety systems effectively isolated the batteries during the incident.
During the fire scare, passengers onboard were taken aback and rushed to safety. However, there were no reports of any injuries or harm to the passengers. The officials confirmed that the fire posed no threat to the safety of the travelers, providing them with reassurance amid the chaos.
The swift response of the railway staff, coupled with the efficiency of the fire brigade, played a crucial role in containing the fire and preventing further damage to the train. The isolated location of the battery box also contributed to avoiding any potential harm to passengers.
After ensuring that the fire was extinguished, the authorities deemed the train fit to resume its journey. With the defective batteries removed, the Vande Bharat Express was declared ready to proceed along its intended route.
