Banning JKLF won’t change reality of K-issue: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, Mar 23: A day after the killing of a minor boy in Hajin town of Bandipora district, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq condemned the “heart-wrenching” incident and expressed his sympathies with the bereaved family.
“Condemn and deeply saddened at the killing of 11 year old Atif in Hajin. It is heart wrenching that the young child was lost in such a manner. My heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family and dua for jannah for the innocent soul,” Mirwaiz tweeted.
Earlier, the body of minor boy Atif Mir was retrieved from the encounter site, who according to police was taken as hostage by the militants during the encounter in Hajin.
Mirwaiz also strongly denounced the ban on JKLF. “Such anti Kashmir tactics will not change the reality of the Kashmir issue nor the urgency to resolve it,” he said.

Joint Hurriyat calls for shutdown today

Srinagar, Mar 23: The Joint Hurriyat Leadership Saturday called for a complete shutdown on Sunday against the ban on Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) under Unlawful Activities Act.
JKLF is led by Yasin Malik, who is currently lodged at Kot Balwal jail in Jammu under Public Safety Act.
In a statement, the leadership appealed people to observe a complete shutdown on Sunday to protest against the ban on JKLF.
Malik is also part of the trio besides, Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
On Friday Government of India banned JKLF for five years, declaring it as an unlawful association under the provisions of Section 3(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
