Srinagar: Ending the suspense, the University of Kashmir on Tuesday announced that the entrance examination for different postgraduate programmes will be held from September 9.
Director Admission Kashmir University, Professor Farooq Mir told The Kashmir Monitor that Kashmir University Entrance Test (KUET) will commence from September 9 and conclude on September 27.
“It took us some time to announce the dates for the entrance examination due to the prevailing situation. We have planned everything very well to conduct a hassle-free examination,” he said.
Mir noted that the centers have been set up in both North and South Kashmir. Kupwara Degree College and KU’s north campus have been identified as the center for students of north Kashmir. Women Degree College Anantnag and Degree College Pampore have been identified as centers for students of south Kashmir.
For students of Budgam and Ganderbal districts, KU has set up centers at Degree College Bemina and Kashmir University’s main campus, Hazratbal.
“Previously, exams for three papers were being held in a single day. This time, keeping in mind the social distancing, we will be conducting one or two papers in a single day. Each center will accommodate around 400 students. We will be following all SOPs strictly,” he said.
Mir said masks and sanitizers have been kept available at all the centers. “We have asked students to follow all measures. They can wear a mask inside the examination halls. In case any student will not be wearing a mask, he or she will be given one by the university authorities,” he added.
Meanwhile, the university has asked students to download admit cards from its website from September 3 after 02:00 PM. However, MPEd aspirants can download admit cards after the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) which will be conducted separately by the Department of Physical Education, University of Kashmir.
“Candidates must check their roll numbers and centers allotted with the General Centre Notice, available on the varsity website well before the commencement of the Entrance Test. The candidates have been advised to follow social distancing while entering the examination center. “The Proctoral wing of the University is authorized to fine such candidates who don’t follow the SOPs. Candidates are advised to carry admit Card, Personal transparent water bottle, Pens/Pencil, Personal hand sanitizer, Mask, and Gloves with them in the examination hall,” the notification adds.
