Srinagar, Nov05: The Assistant Professors working in the colleges and universities here on Monday asked the government to complete the formalities for their PhD increments.
With the implementation of the seventh pay commission, the doctorate Assistant Professors stopped getting the increments paid previously paid to them for their PhD.
However, the new UGC regulation, introduced in summer, asked for retaining the increments to the Assistant Professors having PhD degrees.
Many months later, the state government was yet to bring in the SRO for the release of the increments, the Assistant Professors said.
“Without the SRO, we will not be paid the increments. It has already been several months,” an Assistant Professor working in a degree college in Kashmir said. “It is a handsome amount we will get as our PhD increments. We are being unnecessarily denied the benefit.”
According to the Assistant Professors, various associations have appealed the government to complete the formalities for the increments.
“It is just a matter of paper work. Central University of Kashmir has already completed the formalities and is paying its staff the increments,” another Assistant Professor said.
They appealed the administration to look into the issue without further delay.
