Assembly polls: Security forces gear up to ensure free, fair, peaceful elections

Srinagar, Sep 3:  Security forces have geared up to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

IGP Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi today chaired a meeting with the senior police officers to review the election preparedness,

The meeting was attended by all range DIsG and SSsP of Kashmir Zone through VC & physically attended by SSP PCR Kashmir, SO to IGP Kashmir, SP PC Srinagar, Addl. SP PCR Kashmir and other senior officers.

IGP Kashmir briefed the participating officers regarding the overall election preparedness and arrival of CAPFs to J&K. All the district SSsP were briefed about the phase-wise deployments available, inter-intra district movement of forces, and their induction/de-induction in the districts.

IGP Kashmir stressed upon all the district police chiefs to ensure proper logistic & transportation arrangements for the CAPF in their respective districts. He also directed that CAPF counterpart may also be involved during deployment process and all efforts be taken for smooth induction of CAPF and their meticulous deployment plan in all the three phases of the upcoming Assembly Elections.

The district SSsP also briefed the IGP Kashmir about the preparations on the ground and assured that all the necessary measures would be taken to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections. The IGP directed the range DIsG and district SSsP to review the preparations at their level, identify the gap areas, and address the issues at the earliest.

The meeting concluded with the IGP expressing confidence in the capabilities of the police & the CAPF to provide a safe, smooth & secure environment for the conduct of the election
