Srinagar, Sep 30: Apple politics has dominated the poll campaigning in north Kashmir.

Given the huge fruit grower population,   all the political parties promised to transform the horticulture and agriculture sector.

National Conference, which promised the restoration of statehood, focussed on the horticulture issue during campaigning in north Kashmir.

NC’s Pattan constituency candidate Reyaz Bedar has been vocal in his commitment to uplifting farmers if elected to power. During his campaign in his constituency,

Bedar emphasized the importance of a robust horticulture sector for the economic prosperity of the region, pledging to implement schemes that would support farmers in maximizing their yield and improving their financial stability.

“The horticulture sector is the backbone of our economy, and we must ensure that our farmers receive the necessary support and resources to thrive,” Bedar stated during a recent rally in Pattan.

Not to be outdone, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and other political factions are also promising similar commitments. PDP leaders have assured voters of comprehensive policy introductions that focus on revitalizing the horticulture industry and enhancing the economic status of farmers. They emphasize the need for tailored support programs that can address the unique challenges faced by local growers.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Sopore constituency Irfan Ali Lone too has been advocating for the development of Sopore and the promotion of the apple fruit produced in the area.

Earlier last week, Congress lawmaker Rahul Gandhi, while campaigning for Abdul Rashid Dar, also assured that efforts will be made to transport apples from Sopore to foreign countries.

“People are eating apples from foreign countries, but I want this apple to go to America. If this apple is to reach Japan and America, the first step has to be the restoration of statehood. Without this, it is not possible,” he said.
