In Golaghat town, Assam, a shocking triple murder case unfolded when a man surrendered to the police, confessing to killing his wife and in-laws. The incident sent shockwaves through the town, prompting hundreds of residents to gather outside the police station in uproar upon Najibur Rahman’s surrender.

As per national media reports, a senior police officer stated that Rahman committed this heinous act, murdering his wife, Sanghamitra Ghosh, and her parents, Sanjeev and Junu Ghosh, who lived in the Hindi School Road locality in Golaghat.

Ankita, Sanghamitra’s sister, revealed that she witnessed the horrifying incident on a video call with the victim on Monday evening. She saw Rahman attempting to attack the family with a machete. Ankita immediately informed the neighbors, but when they arrived at the house, they tragically found the three victims already dead.

After committing the crime, Rahman fled the scene, taking his and Sanghamitra’s infant son with him. However, a few hours later, he surrendered himself along with the infant at the Golaghat police station.

Currently in police custody, Rahman is scheduled to appear before a court on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the infant has been placed in a children’s home.

Ankita disclosed that Rahman had concealed his true identity when marrying Sanghamitra, using the name Rimon Bora. She further claimed that Rahman forcefully took Sanghamitra to Kolkata and married her, subjecting her to domestic violence.

Following this horrific incident, enraged locals protested outside the police station on Monday night, demanding capital punishment for the accused. The situation escalated when an unruly mob started pelting stones at the police, leading the authorities to resort to a lathi charge to disperse the agitators.
