Amid protests, Govt attaches HoD, Orthodontics at GDC

Srinagar, March 19: Government on Monday attached Head of the Department (HoD), Orthodontics, Government Dental College (GDC) Dr Mushtaq Ahmad with the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir.
‘In the interest of the administration, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad, HoD, Orthodontics, Government Dental College (GDC), Srinagar is hereby attached with the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, till further orders, “reads the order.
The order has been issued in the aftermath of protests, carried out by the undergraduate, postgraduate students against the HoD.
They alleged that the Hod Dr Mushtaq is physically and mentally torturing the students.
“We are facing unnecessary problems every day only because of the HOD if our demands were not filled we will go for the hunger strike.We stand by their demand of removal of Dr Mohammad Mushtaq as the Head of the Department and formation of a student union on the same pattern as in other professional colleges,” said protestors.
