Argentinian legend Lionel Messi now has over 400 million+ Instagram followers.
He has acquired around five million followers after the FIFA World Cup 2022 started. Argentina defeated France in the final game played on Sunday. And now his Instagram post after the World Cup win is breaking records by getting nearly 53 million likes so far.
His Instagram post after the win went viral. In his post, Messi shared pics from the wild celebrations in the final.
“World Champions! I dreamed it so many times, I wanted it so much that I still haven’t fallen, I can’t believe it…… Thank you very much to my family, to all who support me and also to all who believed in us. We demonstrate once again that Argentines when we fight together and united we are capable of achieving what we set out to do. The merit belongs to this group, which is above individualities, it is the strength of all fighting for the same dream that was also the dream of all Argentines… We did it!!! he wrote.
Messi acquired five million followers on Sunday and 20 million over the last 30 days, according to Social Blade. In August 2021, when he joined PSG after 18 seasons at Barcelona, he gained 20 million new followers.
Messi earns over $50 million a year from endorsement deals thanks in large part to his enormous social media following, which sponsors see as a means to greater exposure for their own brands. Messi has a total of 110 million Facebook likes, in addition to his devoted fan base. There is no Twitter account for him to use.
According to sponsored analytics platform Hookit, which was recently bought by KORE Software, Messi has been responsible for two billion interactions on Instagram this year, 35% of which have occurred since the beginning of November. According to Hookit’s calculation, Messi’s social media tweets have generated $59 million in “adjusted ad value” for his sponsors.
