Abdullahs’ detention: Molly allowed to meet husband, son

Srinagar, Sep 26:Three-time J&K CM, former Union minister and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, who has been detained under Public Safety Act,has been allowed to meet his wife Molly Abdullah.

Quoting sources news agency Kashmir News Trust reported that Molly landed in New Delhi from London and straightaway flew to Srinagar.

The authorities, as per the news agency, permitted her to meet her husband Farooq Abdullah and son Omar Abdullah.

Besides hundreds of leaders from different political parties, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have also been detained. Farooq is spending his time under PSA at his Gupkar residence while Omar has been lodged at Hariniwas.

Molly, a nurse, married Farooq Abdullah in the 1960s. She met Farooq Abdullah while he was studying medicine in United Kingdom. The couple have three daughters Sara, Safia and Hinna and son Omar Abdullah.

Molly lives in London with her second daughter, Hina Abdullah. Sara is married to Congress leader Sachin Pilot and Safia to a local businessman in the Valley. Omar Abdullah has separated from his wife Payal, who lives with their sons Zamir and Zahir in Delhi.

National Conference party sources informed KNT that Molly was upset over the state of Kashmir affairs and the detention of her husband and son.

Earlier, Sara had landed in Srinagar from Rajasthan to meet his father and brother.

Meanwhile, former Chairman Jammu Kashmir Chairman M.Y.Khan, Suriya Abdullah and her daughter also met Farooq Abdullah. (KNT)
