Mumbai: Aamir Khan, the superstar known for his meticulous approach to roles, has expressed his keenness to return to romantic cinema, provided the narrative and character align with his age. The actor, who has portrayed diverse characters spanning from his debut in “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” to his recent venture “Laal Singh Chaddha,” shared his openness to exploring romance on screen once again.
Despite encountering box office setbacks with his last two films, Aamir remains undeterred. He revealed his eagerness to face the camera anew, with filming already underway for his upcoming project, “Sitaare Zameen Par,” commencing in February 2024.
During a recent interaction at a News 18 conference, Aamir responded to inquiries about his willingness to partake in romantic films, saying, “If there’s a romantic film I can do, sure. It’s a little uncommon to explore romance at my age. If I suit the character and the story, why not?”
Aamir Khan’s recent cinematic ventures have faced challenges at the box office. “Thugs of Hindostan,” with a production budget of Rs 335 crore, failed to recover its costs and garnered criticism for its screenplay, direction, and visual effects. Following this setback, Aamir took a hiatus from acting, dedicating time to his family and nurturing personal relationships.
In 2022, Aamir came back with Laal Singh Chaddha – an adaptation of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump – alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ‘boycott trend’, it did not perform well at all commercially. It has only managed around Rs 129 crore worldwide.
