Srinagar, Mar 11: Police on Wednesday said it has busted a militant module of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit by arresting three of its associates.
“Acting on specific information Kupwara Police and Army’s 5 Bihar regiment busted the module which was active in the Kralpora area of district Kupwara,” a police spokesman said in a statement.
“Three militant associates affiliated with the organization have been arrested,” the spokesman said.
“They were in close contact with high profile militant commander Bashir Peer alias Imtiyaz Alam operating in Pakistan.”
The arrested accused were identified as Aijaz Ahmad Payair son of Ghulam Mohammad Payair of Kunan Poshpora Kupwara, Mohammad Altaf Payair son of late Ghulam Qadir Payair of Dardsun Kupwara and Abdul Rouf Malik son of Ghulam Ahmad Malik of Dardsun Kupwara.
“These individuals were active in the area for last 8 months and were involved in various subversive activities and providing shelter, logistic support to militants,” he said, adding, “The trio was also tasked with recruiting new militants from Kupwara district. During the course of investigation arms, ammunition and other incriminating material have been recovered.”
He said a case (FIR No 13/202O U/s 13, 18, 39 ULAP act & 7/25 IA Act) has been registered in PS Kralpora and further investigation has been taken up.
