Srinagar: The number of coronavirus cases in Kashmir saw a big spike on Wednesday as 27 more persons tested positive for the virus.
Government spokesperson, Rohit Kansal tweeted the update: 27 new cases reported today. All from Kashmir Division. Total now 407. Jammu-56 and Kashmir-351.
Sources said among the new cases, 25 were tested at SKIMS, Soura Lab while two cases were tested positive at the lab set up at Chest Diseases hospital in Srinagar.
At least 10 of the fresh cases are from south Kashmir’s Shopian district. Rest of them have come from Bandipora, Kupwara, Baramulla, and Anantnag districts.
Over 8800 tests have been conducted in J&K so far. More than 62000 people having travel or contact history have been placed in surveillance.
Eight one people have recovered from the disease which is usually asymptomatic.
Five people, including 4 in Kashmir, have died of the virus though they all were elderly and had prior health issues.
