108 JKEMS conducts two successful deliveries 

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 01: On September 24 at 5:48 AM, a call was received at the 108 Control Room regarding a pregnancy emergency in Chandpora, district Budgam. The family, originally from Uttar Pradesh and working in a brick kiln, required immediate medical assistance. The 108 ambulance stationed at District Hospital Budgam was immediately dispatched. Upon arrival at the scene, Emergency Medical Technician Shahid assessed the vital signs of the patient, Saiyma Bano, aged 30, who was experiencing labor pains. Assessing the patient’s condition, EMT Shahid consulted with Dr. Fareed Bhat, 108 Emergency Response Centre Physician, and successfully conducted a delivery at the scene at 6:15 AM. The patient gave birth to a healthy baby boy and was later shifted to District Hospital Budgam for further care.

In another incident on the same day, Safeena Bano, aged 28, from Batpora, Azad Colony, was suffering from labor pains. A call was received at the 108 Control Room at 10:25 PM, and the 108 ambulance from SDH Hazratbal was immediately dispatched. EMT Nassir Ahmad reached the scene, took the patient’s vitals, and shifted the patient into the ambulance. During transit, at Ashahibagh, Sayeda Kadal, EMT Nassir consulted with ERCP Dr. Kabir Azam and successfully conducted a delivery inside the ambulance at 10:55 PM. The patient gave birth to a baby girl, and both mother and child were later shifted to JLNM Hospital, Ranawari.

Since the launch of 108 ambulance services in UT J&K, these ambulances have proven to be a boon for expectant mothers. A total of 1,167 deliveries have been successfully conducted either inside the ambulance or at the scene by 108 Emergency Medical Technicians.

Project Head 108 JKEMS, Mushtaq Ahmed, congratulated both EMTs for their commendable work in assisting with the successful deliveries. He emphasized that the 108 EMTs are trained to handle such emergencies and urged the public to dial 108 for any medical emergency.
